My Front Cover So far

Photoshoot for my Front cover

This photo is very good as it expresses a sense of humour of the person  and would brighten up the front cover of my magazine. This expression is very stereotypical of young people with their characteristics

This photo is quite strong as his posture is making him look confident which would suit well on a front cover, him giving eye contact also creates a strong connection with the audience and the viewer which brings them into the magazine

This photo is okay but isn't as strong as the other photos i have taken due to him having no eye contact with the viewer which isn't very inviting

I like this photo the most for my front cover as it gives eye contact towards the viewer as well as added character due to his expression which gives a mode of address to my audience

Experimenting with Colours

I experimented with some colours to get some ideas for potential colours which i can use for my music magazines colour theme. I quite like the colour scheme in number 4, it contains a mixture of both bright and dark colours which meets the needs of my target audience when i did my audience research. I think the colours within 4 are very attractive and all suit well together.

Experimenting with fonts

From this experiment i have decided to use the font named the 2K12 as i think it looks the best looking for my masthead. I also will use the 1st dingbat i experimented with alongside the masthead

Audience Research

From my results i can see the most popular name was Rhythmic which i will be using as the masthead for my music magazine. The maximum price my target audience was willing to pay was £3.00, i will publish my magazine below this. I magazine will be published weekly and the colour scheme will be a mixture of both dark and bright colours. I also learned from this questionnaire that more than 50% of them get their information on the latest music charts on the internet, so i will include a website for my magazine to have to so my target audience can use this to find additional information.

Research and Planning: Music Magazine Mood board

This is a mood board i have created in InDesign which helped me develop my initial idea further. This mood board illustrates what kind of magazine i am going to be creating and typical colours and artists that you will see within my magazine

Research and Planning: Initial Idea for Music Magazine

My magazine will be mainstream. The magazine will be based on UK top chart music and will be published weekly, this is because it publish the latest of the top 40 top chart list each week. I have chosen this as i believe it is popular category within the music magazine market. The typical artists that might feature in my magazine would be The Wanted, JLS, David Guetta, Jessie J, Coldplay and many others like these. This means my genre of music could be from rock to classical, depending what is within the charts. My magazine will feature things like interviews, upcoming gigs, competitions, free giveaways, reviews and the latest gossip.

The target market i will be aiming at is around 16-24. I have chosen to target this age bracket because these are the typical kind of age who would be wanting to buy music magazines. I thought about this through looking at other music magazines which i found most of them was based around the same age.

This magazine will be different than music magazines like Kerrang, as it will contain a wide variety of different genres of music than a specific one like just on rock like Kerrang is.

The colour scheme i would like the magazine to be is a mixture of dark colours and bright colours. I have decided this as they make a very good contrast, especially as my magazine will consist of different genres of music the use of different colours makes my magazine hybrid and i believe would be eye catching and grab my audiences attention.
